Boer Goats

The Boer Goat is a Breed I am very interested in. My love for Nubians runs thick. Nubian Goats are much harder to find these days than Boer.
This is a photo of Hiawatha, our own Boer Doe. She is young in these photos, taken 2024-01-16, and has never been bred.
Boer Goats are considered Meat Goats, and have more meat on their bones than the Milk Goat Breeds. Of course you can milk Boer Goats, but they do not produce as much milk bred goats.
Boer Goats were bred in South Africa and they get quite large. Males average 250 pounds, females are slightly smaller averaging 205 pounds.
Today you will see Boer Goats in many color and markings, but typically a Boer Goat is White with a Brown Head. One thing that makes them so attractive, are their Lop Ears, large floppy ears.
The contents of this page for Boer Goats is still under construction. Please check back later!
